What is Cyalume Dance? Cyalume Dance is a spectacular performance art from Japan that transforms enthusiastic fan cheers for idols (known as otagei or wotagei) into polished choreography. Performed in the dark with glowing Cyalume sticks, this high-speed dance is a true art form that has not only won the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award in 2019 for its artistry but is also gaining international fame with competitions worldwide!
- Our workshops take place in the one-and-only Animate Theater, a hotspot for major stage productions. Here, you can practice and perfect your Cyalume Dance moves in a professional live house environment we’ve secured just for our participants.
- Can't speak Japanese? Never danced before? Fear not! Our English-speaking guide and clear video tutorials on a large screen make it easy and enjoyable for everyone to learn. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a first-timer, we’ve got you covered.
- We provide all the necessary gear, including concert lights and cyalume sticks. All you need to do is show up in comfy clothes you can easily move in, and you’re ready to dance!
- You can join this program whether you're in Tokyo for a short trip or living in Japan! Try this workshop out with your friends!
The Experience
● Learn the moves of Anisong (anime song) events! Abracadabra Tours brings you an all-new experience where you can learn Japan's unique Cyalume Dance, also known as Wotagei. ・Usually, idols are the ones cheered on by fans' Cyalume Dance performances, but in this exciting twist, they’ll be the ones teaching you every step! ・Can't speak Japanese? Never danced before? No worries! With support from our English-speaking guide and instructional video slides, no prior knowledge of Japanese or dance experience is required. Just grab your glowing concert light and cyalume sticks, and let loose! ・Get up close with real VA idols and professional dancers as they perform authentic songs and dance routines on stage!

Itinerary
- Meet in front of the animate Ikebukuro Main Store! Our guide will be waiting for you, dressed in cosplay and holding an ""Abracadabra Tours"" sign. They should be pretty easy to spot!"

- You'll be greeted by real idols!
- Your instructors are none other than idols who are also professional voice actors and dancers.
- We'll start off by introducing you to Cyalume Dance, but don’t worry about language barriers—our English-speaking guide will translate everything for you.
- We'll warm up to some anime songs to get everyone moving. Come on, let's warm up!
- Let's start practicing!
- Cyalume Dance combines several techniques (or "waza") into polished choreographies. We'll teach you each waza one by one!
- Follow along with our straightforward tutorial videos, projected on a large screen. With guidance from both the idols and our guide, even beginners will feel at ease!
- Move to the rhythm... Hey, you might be a natural!
- Now, let's tackle that famous move everyone has seen at least once!
- If it gets tricky, the idols will come off the stage to help you nail it!
- Light up the room with our 15-color battery-operated concert lights and snap-to-activate cyalume sticks!
- The workshop ends with an idol live performance! Let's get pumped up with an anime song medley.
- Pour your heart out in support of your favorite idols!
- Keep an eye on the stage as real voice actor idols and dancers perform just for you!

- The studio is located on the 2nd basement floor, accessible by stairs. Please store large items such as suitcases in lockers and refrain from bringing them into the studio.
Important Booking Information
- The workshop will be conducted in English.
- Please come dressed in comfortable clothes suitable for physical activity.
- Wear comfortable shoes or prepare accordingly. The venue allows shoes, but you are welcome to participate in socks or barefoot if you prefer.
- Please bring your own drinks and a towel. You're free to drink whenever you need, but eating is not allowed inside the studio.
- We will provide each participant with a 15-color battery-operated concert light and a snap-to-activate cyalume stick. You are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
- The studio is located on the 2nd basement floor, accessible by stairs. Please store large items such as suitcases in lockers and refrain from bringing them into the studio.
- Failure to arrive at the meeting point on time will be considered a no-show, and you may be charged a cancellation fee.
- We are not liable for any accidents or injuries that occur during the program, though compensation may be provided within the limits of the participation fee if the company is found at fault. We recommend that you consider purchasing insurance if you are concerned about possible accidents or injuries.
- Please be responsible for your own trash and dispose of it as needed where appropriate.
- If you are not feeling well on the day of the program, please refrain from participating. We may also ask you not to participate if your health condition could be a concern.
